Reichert Polarimeter Wien 1.This rare model is a type of polarimeter (sometimes referred to as Saccharimeter) which was mostly used by practitioners in clinics for urinalyses, specifically for the quantitative determination of sugar levels in urine. The instrument polarizes light, which is passed through a tube containing the liquid sample. The device measures the rotation of the plane of polarization of the liquid. The measured angle is a function of concentration of sugars, and it is then used to determine the amount of sugar in the sample.
