Our Shipping commitment to you the 'valued customer' :
Please understand that we make no money on shipping the item to your international delivery adress,. Actually in some cases we put in extra should there be a shortfall, as shipping prices change constantly here in this country. The reason being that there is no available choice in different shipping methods, which most first world countries have the luxury of,for instance There is no special 'book and bound' rate unfortunately , these packages go as normal volumetric consignments. Therefore with only one real choice, we are bound by private courier companies and cannot use the local systems as they are exceptionally un- reliable and losses occur all the time, so even though shipping may seem expensive its actually the best value for money we can offer and FASTEST and most reliable way we can get the item to you from our dispatch.
We have had over 15 years experience in shipping from Africa, with worldwide selling on Ebay.If you would like a copy of the original tax invoice ( Till slip) and weighbill to prove that the item has been shipped and what was exactly paid we most certainly can reply to you with these details. In the event of any significant difference we most certainly would refund this back to you so that you cover the exact shipping amount only and nothing further. Antique W. Watson and sons Microscope
Circa 1800's
We just located 3 original objective lenses
and more accessories.
Fine example of a mid 19th Century brass microscope in its fitted wooden case, complete with eyepiece lenses, and 3 original objective lenses( each ribbed in consecutive order 1, 2 and 3) and extra accessories in brass cases, mostly original accessories. The microscope is made of lacquered brass on a Tripod leg footing with anti slip rubbers underneath. It tilts, has a rack and pinion main focus and additional fine focus on the side of the tube. It has a square stage with 2 movable knobs moving the stage left / right /up down.... The slide rest of the stage, has both its 2 clips and below the stage is a another focusing lens lamp with all its blanking plates and movable levers, fully original here, below that is a large adjustable mirror with excellent condition mirror on both sides being able to reverse and there is a brass knob and gears controlling depth of the mirror support all in excellent working condition, the mirror is on both sides of an adjustable setting. Being able to flip both ways.
It comes with 3 ( All) objective lens holder ( attached) which rotates depending on choice of objective lens
There are 3 Objective lenses attached to the rotating plate,Nothing missing here, however all base plates and screws in place. The eyepiece lenses are in place and all come apart easily and extract easily. The additional accessories are also included. It comes with a small pair of brass tweezers, a live box, a pincer holding clamp attachment and a bullseye magnifying lens on stand for focusing the light source( works well).
There is a quarter inch paraben lens and box container there is a single eyepiece in brass container all saying Watson and sons on the containers
The microscope is certainly in good working order. she focuses well and you can view slides
. The scope is fully complete and working....Wow!! Displays excellently in this close to fully complete fashion.
The microscope is in excellent condition considering age of course its not perfect as it is not new , however I hardly think it was used much, the box is also in excellent to fair condition, with the original handle which can be unscrewed and not so many age signs a few scratches and some tarnishing on the brass handle, lock and key works well. The microscope displays excellently and looks amazing on show.
It comes in its original fitted case with sections to hold the lenses,There is one piece of securing block of wood missing inside everything else is great. The box is good quality with a brass carrying handle and comes with its original key. There are some general signs of age and light marks on the box but its all part of the original condition.
The box measures at 17" high X 10" wide 8 " deep.
