Description
For your consideration, a beautiful Henry Crouch London Microscope No. 5783. Henry Crouch learned his trade as an apprentice with Smith, Beck & Beck. The 1861 census records that the 22 year-old was still in that position.Accessories: 1 Bullseye Condenser, 4-Objectives (2/3, 1/16, 1/12, and Unknown marking) with matching canisters-brass (All Objectives canister labeled H. Crouch London), 3-eye pieces and other assorted pieces (see picture).
Microscope Features:
a - Stage: Separate Coarse
b - Focusing: Separate Coarse
c - Substage: Swing out brass condenser
d - Light Source: Mirror (some visible spots and scratches but overall in great condition)
The microscope shows its age (normal signs of wear) so don't expect it to be brand new. There's some tarnish on the brass lacquer and general signs of wear on the box (in addition to the apparent damage). Although, it is in working order it is really being sold as a decorative / collector items rather than a scientific instrument. As far as I know, it has never been cleaned and/or polished.
Overall this is a beauty of microscope to add to your collection.
Note: I do not insure item, therefore, if you wish to add insurance to the shipping please let me know as this is NOT included in the listed price and cost of shipment. AND buyer assumes all responsibility for shipment.
Disclaimer: The microscope in this section is described as accurate as possible. The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions at all please ask.
